Supported Independent Living Program (SILP)

Empowered Living With Support

L’Arche Calgary’s Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) supports Core Members to live independently. A team of SILP Assistants provides varying levels of support to Core Members. Some require only an occasional visit, while others need regular support with meal preparation, transportation, and other household tasks.

Whatever the individual’s needs are, the objective of the SILP is to support each Core Member in their  well-being and their quality of life. Although SILP Core Members live independently, they remain valued members of our community who participate in gatherings and events.

Building Skills

Our Assistants work closely with SILP participants to develop skills they wish to strengthen, such as cooking, artistic expression, and organization.

Outings

Trips and outings are an important part of the SILP experience. Participants and Assistants enjoy exploring local events, out-of-town adventures, and discovering new experiences together.
