The Tamarack Day Program

The Tamarack Day Program

Our Day Program is called Tamarack, after a specific kind of North American larch tree. “Tamarack” originates from an Algonquian word and refers to the wood traditionally used to make snowshoes.

The program emphasizes individualized support, ensuring that each Core Member’s day is tailored to their interests and needs. Our team of 12 specialized Assistants facilitates these activities, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

At Tamarack Day Program, our Core Members channel their creativity into crafting a wide array of beautiful items, including candles, paintings, jewelry, soap, pottery, woodworking, knitted goods, and more. These unique creations are available at our main office, where we invite you to support L’Arche Calgary through suggested donations. The majority of your donation goes directly to the artists to honor their talent and provide them with the well-deserved recognition they deserve for their work. The remaining portion of your donation helps cover the cost of supplies, ensuring that core members have the necessary materials to continue creating.
